Network Against FGM/C In Somaliland (NAFIS) in collaboration with Taakulo Somaliland Community (TASCO) established 6 youth forum platforms which the youth will be able to advocate and lobby for the passage of implementation the Anti-FGM policy, law and also gain knowledge to be able to educate and influence other youth groups and the community to change their attitude and practices towards FGM.
Network Against FGM/C in Somaliland (NAFIS) in collaboration with Taakulo Somaliland Community (TASCO) established 6 youth forums (40 participants for each region) at the eastern regions of Somaliland (Togdheer, Sool and Sanaag) the least FGM/C intervention in the country. each region two (2) youth forums were established one forum for secondary and tertiary education youth and one forum school out youth. The established youth forum platforms will be able to advocate and lobby for the passage of implementation the Anti-FGM policy, law and also gain knowledge to educate and influence other youth groups and the community to change their attitude and practices towards FGM.
The youth was trained for FGM/C education and its health complications to pass the knowledge for the community as well as to be active and have enough knowledge for the upcoming quarterly meetings and to be part of the awareness campaign.
These youth forums will meet quarterly and will actively participate the awareness of FGM/C in their regions. The youth affirmed to transfer this useful knowledge for their families as well as the community in the region and will actively participate the advocacy of anti-FGM/C bill.
