Introduction

Network against FGM/C in Somaliland (NAFIS) is a non-political, non-governmental, and humanitarian network. NAFIS was established in late 2006 in Hargeisa by several local NGOs working towards the eradication of FGM/C. Currently, NAFIS has a membership of 20 organizations operating in all the regions of Somaliland. As the only nationwide network of its kind, the main purpose of NAFIS is to combat all forms of FGM/C in Somaliland through coordination and networking, policy framework, research, and documentation, capacity building for the key stakeholders, and media awareness.

NAFIS Network is implementing a project focusing on strengthening the sustainability of health systems in Somaliland with partner Plan International through the provision of inclusive and age-gender responsive mobile outreach maternal and health care services to 231,000 marginalized women, adolescent girls, and children, strengthening health worker capacities and contribute to improving health systems management. 15,000 adolescents will benefit from increased access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) education and adolescent-friendly SRH services. In addition, the project will develop technical resources on mobile clinics, incorporating the management of complications from female genital mutilation and providing adolescent-friendly sexual and reproductive information and services

Role Purpose

The driver under the general supervision of the Procurement will be in charge of transporting passengers and goods on behalf of NAFIS Network as needed, adhering to all driving regulations established by NAFIS and the national traffic regulations of Somaliland government. The key responsibilities will be:

Key Areas of Accountability:

Under the direct supervision of the Procurement Manager the driver is required to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Operate NAFIS vehicles, and carry out tasks given by the procurement manager.
  • Ensure passenger, cargo, and vehicle safety while adhering to traffic laws and maintaining road discipline.
  • Oversee the regular upkeep of the assigned vehicle(s) to make sure they are roadworthy before leaving. This involves routinely checking the fan, belt, engine oil, tires, and brakes. Always make sure the vehicle(s) are clean.
  • Complete the inspection form for the status of the vehicle and give it to the procurement manager. Any issues with the vehicle that need immediate attention should be brought to the Procurement manager’s attention right away.
  • Drive NAFIS vehicles, move people and products that have been approved by procurement manager from one location to another in a timely, secure, and economical way.
  • The driver is responsible to take care of the tool kit and in case of any loss driver will be responsible.
  • Make sure that in the event of an accident, supervisors are notified and a report is acquired from the police. The driver must never take responsibility.
  • Always keep track of the oil changes and gasoline levels on the vehicle’s road log sheet.
  • Consistently adhere to the guidelines for operating NAFIS
  • Refuel the vehicle(s) as necessary.
  • Be willing and ready to perform weekend shifts as necessary and on a regular basis.
  • Do any additional tasks that may be tasked from time to time.

Requirements:

    • High school diploma from a recognized school and two years of driving experience for big companies or organizations
    • Having a current valid driver’s license 
    • Being knowledgeable about car maintenance and repairs.
    • Flexible in terms of working hours 
    • Excellent knowledge of roads within Togdheer and Somaliland in general.
    • Good knowledge and command of Somaliland traffic rules and regulations
