Introduction
Network Against FGM/C in Somaliland (NAFIS) is a non-political, non-governmental, humanitarian, and anti-FGM network in Somaliland with 20-member organizations. Its primary purpose is to combat all forms of FGM/C in Somaliland through coordination, networking, lobbying, advocacy, research, documentation, capacity building, women’s empowerment, and survival support.
JOB DESCRIPTION
NAFIS NETWORK is dedicated to empowering women in rural communities. It seeks a qualified consultant to conduct training programs for business women groups in the Maroodijeeh, Sahil, and Togdheer regions. The training aims to enhance women’s entrepreneurial skills and business knowledge in 14 selected villages within these regions. The consultant will be responsible for designing and delivering training sessions tailored to the specific needs and contexts of the target communities.
OBJECTIVES
The primary objectives of the consultant are as follows:
- Develop a comprehensive training curriculum focusing on critical areas such as business planning, marketing, financial management, and networking.
- Deliver training sessions to equip participants with practical tools, strategies, and knowledge to enhance their entrepreneurial capabilities.
- Facilitate interactive and participatory learning experiences encouraging idea-sharing, problem-solving, and skills development.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to participants, addressing their specific challenges and fostering their personal and professional growth.
- Evaluate the impact of the training and provide recommendations for future interventions to support the sustainability of women-led businesses.
Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Develop a tailored training curriculum based on the identified needs, covering business planning, marketing, financial management, and networking topics.
- Design training materials to facilitate effective learning and knowledge transfer, including presentations, handouts, case studies, and practical exercises.
- Deliver training sessions in each of the 14 villages, employing participatory methodologies and interactive techniques to engage and empower participants.
- Provide ongoing mentorship and support to participants, including individual consultations and guidance to address their business challenges.
- Facilitate networking opportunities for participants to connect with other businesswomen, local resources, and potential partners or customers.
- Conduct evaluations to assess the participant’s progress, measure the impact of the training, and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare a comprehensive final report summarizing the training process, outcomes, and recommendations for future interventions.
Duration and Location
The training program is expected to be conducted over six months, with sessions held in the Maroodijeeh, Togdheer, and Sahil regions. The locations and venues will be determined with the Nafis Network and relevant local stakeholders.
Deliverables
The consultant will be expected to deliver the following:
- Needs assessment report outlining the specific life skills requirements of the target communities.
- Comprehensive training curriculum covering entrepreneurship, communication, financial management, and leadership.
- Training materials, including presentations, handouts, and case studies.
- Documentation of training sessions, participant feedback, and evaluations.
- Final report summarizing the training process, outcomes, and recommendations
Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal consultant should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Demonstrated expertise in conducting life skills training programs, preferably in rural or community settings.
- Proven experience in entrepreneurship, communication, financial management, and leadership.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate participants effectively.
- Knowledge of the local context, culture, and challenges rural communities face in Maroodijeeh, Togdheer, and Sahil.
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Proficiency in preparing comprehensive reports and conducting program evaluations.
- Master’s in business administration, economics, or public administration and management.

Selection Criteria
The selection of the consultant will be based on the following criteria:
- Demonstrated expertise and experience in conducting training programs for women entrepreneurs, particularly in rural or community settings.
- Understanding the specific training requirements and challenges business women face in Maroodijeeh, Sahil, and Togdheer.
- Ability to design and deliver training modules on soap production, tailoring, and henna, addressing technical and business aspects.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills to effectively transfer knowledge and practical skills to the participants.
- Demonstrated success in supporting women-led businesses and facilitating their growth and sustainability.
- Knowledge of market trends and opportunities in the soap production, tailoring, and henna sectors, particularly in rural areas.
- Financial proposal and value for money, considering the resources required for training materials, equipment, and other relevant costs.
- Availability to conduct the training program within the specified timeframe.
