Success Story: SHG Leader Bridges Peace Between Divided Communities

In Statehouse, deep-rooted tensions between the community have long fueled mistrust and division. But today, peace is beginning to grow planted and nurtured by the leadership of women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

After receiving training in human rights, social cohesion, and peacebuilding, these grassroots women leaders are facilitating powerful community dialogues that bring together youth, elders, and women from all walks of life. Among them is Raho, a courageous SHG leader who shared her journey:

“Before this training, I never imagined I could help bring peace between our communities. Now, I lead dialogues where youth, elders, and women come together to listen and learn from one another. We’ve resolved disputes, addressed violence, and raised mutual respect. We are deeply thankful to NAFIS, Plan International, and the EU for strengthening grassroots leadership and promoting social justice in our communities.”
